City Hall sweep: police say it cost them $0

The OPP says Windsor Police requested the City Hall technology sweep. Who paid, and how much, is still unanswered.

Windsor News desk | | Windsor, Ontario

The OPP Security Bureau says Windsor Police requested the technology sweep at Windsor City Hall (OPP file 2026-4615).

In an Oct. 2 email, Windsor Police said: "There was no cost to the Windsor Police Service or the Windsor Police Service Board associated with the technology sweep referenced in your correspondence." Police said further information would need a freedom-of-information request.

Still unanswered: who paid for the sweep, and how much it cost. A City of Windsor freedom-of-information request, FOI 213-2026, filed Sept. 17, asks for the total cost, invoices and the budget line. It is pending.
