Transit Windsor's Umo fare system launches Oct. 5

Riders can set up Umo accounts now. Loading fare and riding start Oct. 5. Exact cash is still accepted.

Transit Windsor's account-based Umo fare system replaces the current smart-card fare technology on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, according to the City of Windsor's Umo page and Transit Windsor Board report S 100/2026.

Riders can download the Umo Mobility app and set up accounts now. Loading fare and riding start Oct. 5. Cash is still accepted (exact fare). Umo cards cost $6 new, or $10 for a replacement, at the Windsor International Transit Terminal, 300 Chatham St. W.

The Transit Windsor Board had an Umo Misuse and Fraud Policy (S 100/2026) on its Sept. 23 agenda. Whether the board approved it was Unclear when this was posted.
